We are delighted to share the good news that System Hygiene has merged with Swiftkleen Ltd. of Leyland.

Established in 1990, the family-owned company supplies cleaning, nursing and catering products to hundreds of loyal customers throughout the North West.

Swiftkleen’s focus on quality products and the highest levels of customer service makes them a perfect addition to the System Hygiene family.

Together, we will strive to serve our customers even better with a combined 60-strong team of customer service staff, warehouse personnel and next-day delivery drivers dedicated to exceeding our customers’ expectations.

Robin Huddleston, Managing Director, System Hygiene, says, “This acquisition is a huge win for our customers. We'll draw from Swiftkleen’s deep knowledge in the industrial and commercial marketplace and well-connected team, as well as their incredible customer base, to launch exciting new services and develop our online sales channels.”

“We're committed to supporting the region’s facility managers by being a one stop source for hygiene advice, products and services that will help them exceed their guests’ ever-increasing expectations.” he continues.

Julie Hogan, who founded Swiftkleen with her husband David, adds: ‘System Hygiene will help us to continue the tradition we have for excellent service, product expertise, and an environment our customers and staff want to be part of. With a turnover in excess of £5m, System Hygiene also offers the size and buying power that our customers will benefit from.”

The merger is a testament to System Hygiene’s momentum in the janitorial supplies industry since the company’s inception in 1983. We were one of the first distributors to offer next day deliveries as standard. We outgrew our premises three times until 1995 when our 7,000 square metre offices and warehouse at Altham Business Park were commissioned.

The start of the century saw System Hygiene acquire Paper Disposables Ltd. and Care Company Northwest Ltd. 2010 saw significant investment in e-commerce and the launch of our first website. The introduction of a fully integrated sales and service division followed five years later.

In 2017, System Hygiene was a Hyndburn Business Awards winner in the Apprenticeship category for nurturing apprentice talent. Today, System Hygiene operates as a multiplatform business with traditional, web and online sales through Amazon and eBay.

Paul Stebbings, General Manager at System Hygiene, concludes: “Both System Hygiene and Swiftkleen are long-established companies in the region and leading players in the janitorial industry. This acquisition will further strengthen the profile of System Hygiene and give us the ability to serve customers across the whole of Lancashire and beyond. .It is a good fit with our growth as a multi-channel company and provides a solid foundation to serve customers better both in-person and online.”
