Derian House Gala

The sun shone down at the Derian House Gala Garden Party and Country Fair this weekend.

System Hygiene staff were delighted to celebrate the glorious day with family and friends of Derian House children's hospice, our nominated charity for 2018.

Liam Havlin, System Hygiene Sales Manager, says: "The day was a brilliant success in terms of fundraising and fun. Thousands flocked to the Chorley-based children’s hospice to enjoy family fun including live music, morris dancing, delicious food and drink stalls, and even geese and duck herding!"

"Children had fun on the fairground, donkey rides and face painting stall, while parents tucked into wood-fired pizzas and ice cream rolls, all washed down with Gin and Prosecco cocktails." he continues.

Entertainment included live music from Magic Voices Choir, Phoenix Ukulele Band, Artisan Brass Band, Skylarks Choir and the Red Rosettes Barbershop Singers. There was also a dancing display from Platt Bridge Morris Dancers and drumming from DHOL Players.

Visitors browsed stalls selling toys, crafts, gifts and food from Taste of Lancashire Farmers Market, or just enjoyed the sunshine with a picnic.

Over at the hospice itself, staff led tours around the building, showcasing the important work the charity does offering specialist respite, palliative and end of life care to children and young people across the North West.

David Robinson, Interim Chief Operations Officer of Derian House, said: “What a fantastic day we all had. It was wonderful to see our families and supporters out enjoying the sunshine and spending time together, while raising vital funds for Derian House.

“The event was a celebration of Derian’s 25th anniversary, and it was only possible thanks to our volunteers, staff, families, visitors and supporters who pulled together to make it such a huge success. Thank you to you all – it’s only with your help and loyal support that these events can happen.”

The charity is celebrating 25 years of care and is challenging supporters to incorporate 25 into their fundraising. To find out more and join us in fundraising for Derian House, please call Elaine Middleton, Derian House Corporate & Sponsorship Fundraiser, on 01257 271 271.
