Wow! We’ve done it. Together, we’ve hit our fundraising target for the Derian House Children's Hospice £50 Corporate Challenge - and then some!

Thanks go out to our wonderful staff who filled their tubes with donations for The Smartie Challenge, scored for our Football Fundraiser. and bagged a bargain or two at our Charity Car Boot Sale. To you, your family and friends - thank you again for your time, enthusiasm and boundless generosity.

But it’s a very big thank you that we owe to a brilliant little fundraiser, Lidie Arkwright. When Lidie heard that her mum, Mel – who works in our accounts team – was taking on the Smarties challenge, she wanted to do her bit and bring happiness to other children who are suffering.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Lidie counted-up all her hard-earned pocket money and filled her empty Smarties tube with her coins, just like mum. And it was those coins which helped us go over our target and hit £510.40 today – well done, Lidie!

What makes Lidie’s gesture truly heart-warming is that she had a very serious illness last year herself. Lidie was diagnosed with SLE Lupus. This is an autoimmune illness in which the body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissue in many parts of the body. For Lidie, and young and old people like her, that can result in joint pain, extreme tiredness and uncomfortable skin rashes.

Lidie's understanding of what the children at Derian House might be experiencing made her all the more committed to doing all she could to make sure they knew they were cared-for, happy and loved.
